Mad TV, nine seasons into the show, has become one of the greatest sketch comedy shows of this generation.
Lacking the comedic genius and creative input of key cast members such as Farley, Spade, Rock, Sandler, and others in
the new millenium, Saturday Night Live has lost a large portion of it's audience to this new brand of intense, almost
x-rated comedy. Not holding back in order to please more "conservative" viewers, Mad TV is untethered, unabashed lampooning
of celebrities and other, less popular television personalities...
In a world where television shows like Seventh Heaven and Buffy the Vampire Slayer can stay on the air for
more than five seasons, Mad TV is a blessing from Heaven above. Having a large audience doesn't necessarily make a show successful
(Sometimes you must choose between several sub par shows); only popular, and often overrated.
Artie Lange, Michael MacDonald, Will Sasso, and Nicole Sullivan, however, made Mad TV both popular and successsful
in it's early seasons. Newcomers such as Bobby Lee and Frank Caliendo are currently maintaining such success and greatly
adding to it.
